NEW: Custom Shapes!
- This is one of the biggest updates ever to Gimkit Creative! You are now able to create your own custom shapes in Creative, allowing you to make your own props, signage, decorations, creatures, or anything else you can draw!
- Even better, Custom Shapes are available to everybody now! You don’t need to a Season Ticket to start creating your own Custom Shapes!
Creating your first shape
- First, add the new
Custom Shape
device on your map. Click into the device options and selectManage shapes
- From here, click
Manage shapes
and thenNew Shape
- You’ll now be brought into an editor where you can design your own shape. Note that a shape is not the same as a standard drawing with different colors. Instead, you’ll be drawing just the shape (no color). Later in your map, you can take your shape and fill it in with any color you’d like!
- When designing your shape, you can freehand draw, draw lines, rectangles, or circles.
- Shapes have a memory limit. Utilizing lines, rectangles, and circles allows you to be most efficient with your memory!
Adding the shape into your map
- Go back to your Custom Shape Device and under the
Shape
option, select the shape you just made. - Now the shape you just made will be on your map! You can adjust the size using the
Change Size
button on the bottom left. - You can also adjust the fill color, border width, and border color.
- Once you draw a shape, it can be used in multiple Custom Shape devices, all with different sizes, and colors! So if you were to create a bird-type shape, you can place tons of birds on your map with different colors/sizes, and they all use the same base shape!
- Additionally, if you update your shape’s drawing, all the Custom Shape devices that use that shape will automatically update with the latest drawing.
Going further with animations
- An awesome part about shapes too are that they can be animated!
- For the Custom Shape device you want to animate, go to the
Animation
tab under the device options. - Currently you can select between three types of animations: Pulse, Rotate clockwise, and Rotate counterclockwise.
- Adjust how long it takes to animate, and if you want the animation to loop.
Final notes on shapes
- Utilize channels & wires with your shapes. You can/show as well as animate a shape when triggered!
- Shapes are purely visual, meaning they have no hitbox. If you want players to stand on your shapes, utilize the Barrier Device to create invisible barriers that match up with your shape.
- If you publish a map with Custom Shapes, make sure everything in your shapes follows our Community Guidelines. Just like anything else in Creative, publishing content that breaks our Community Guidelines can cause your account to be suspended permanently.
